HCA Virginia's PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Programs are highly competitive and offer new pharmacy practitioners a chance to be part of the largest healthcare organization in the nation. These exceptional programs provide an opportunity for you to augment your classroom knowledge and develop your skills in real-world situations within a structured clinical setting.
Hands-on clinical experiences
During your clinical rotations, you'll assume increasing levels of responsibility for your patients. A skilled preceptor will guide you as you perform medication use assessment and monitoring, attend rounds, provide patient education, answer questions about medications, and participate in clinical projects.
Our programs operate within clinically progressive pharmacy departments offering advanced technologies, such as off-site pharmacist order entry, computerized physician order entry, automated IV manufacture, automated point-of-care dispensing cabinets with Bio-ID, and electronic barcode medication administration.
National Matching Services participation
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Programs at HCA Virginia participate in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Resident Matching Program (the "Match"). These residency sites agree that no person at this site will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information from any residency applicant.
